In 1996, the San Marzano Tomato obtained PDO recognition, referring exclusively to the tomato processed and canned as peeled or filleted San Marzano Tomato.
Today the Protected Designation of Origin offers many advantages, from guarantees of quality and authenticity for consumers to protection and promotion for local producers.
